CRP-cAMP regulon. Acetyl CoA synthase Acs is activated by sirtuin homolog CobB-mediated deacetylation of K609 in Salmonella (Starai, 2002). Protein acetyltransferase Pat in Salmonella inhibits acetyl CoA synthase Acs by acetylating residue K609; the orthologous Pka(YfiQ) is assumed to have the same function in E. coli (Starai, 2004). CheY is acetylated at lysine residues 92 and 109 by acetyl-CoA synthase (Acs), mediating a change in the direction of flagellar rotation stimulated by acetate (Barak, 2001).
