Curator or user-submitted Comments:
TnaA is required for growth on tryptophan as a carbon source and indole as a tryptophan source. TnaA is a key enzyme in L-cysteine degradation. Alkali-inducible. Downregulated during cold-shock and in early exponential phase. Binds TrxA (Kumar, 2004). TnaA binds plasmid colE1 sRNA Rcd, which modulates TnaA activity to regulate growth inhibition by Rcd for plasmid stabilzation (Chant, 2007).
