Prophages

Description:

Qin/Kim is a defective prophage with 32 genes, including the sRNA gene dicF, and 4 pseudogenes (nohA', intQ' rzpQ', and ydfE').

Details:

The first 28 codons of the ydfJ' pseudogene were separated by the insertion of 20,460 bp of the Qin prophage; 28 aa (translated from 1650862 to 1650779 bp) have been added back to the YdfJ protein sequence. An intact version is present in E. coli 536 (UniProt: Q0THP5). The insertion of Qin appears to have generated an 11 bp duplication GAAATCCATAA (1650768 to 1650778 bp) which may represent the Qin attL and attR sites. Genomic coordinates: 1630310-1650767. Length: 20,458 bp

This contiguous prophage interval and its length includes the partial insertion sequence IS2E (1648867-1649572) , which does not have prophage genes; IS2E' may have deleted parts of adajcent pseudogenes ydfE'and intQ'.

The Rac prophage length without the partial 706 bp IS2E' included is 19,752 bp.
