Description:
Ribonucleases are involved with the maturation, quality control and degradation of RNA molecules.
Details:
Exoribonucleases mature and degrade RNA either hydrolytic or phosphorlytic in the 3' to 5' direction, processive or non-processively.
Endoribonucleases cut at specific sites between ribonucleotides in ssRNA or dsRNA to process precursors into mature structural RNAs or to intiate the proces of degradation, often through the degradosome.
