E. coli has seven RNAP sigma factors.
Any one of seven different sigma subunits, RpoDESNH, FecI, or FliA(RpoF) can complex with core enzyme to make holoenzymes that faciliate promoter recognition, DNA binding, then the intitiation, elongation and termination of RNA synthesis.
