Description:

The RNA degradosome is a multiprotein complex consisting of RNAse E with PNPase, enolase and RNA helicase RhlB attached to its C-terminal scaffold.

Details:

Alternate forms of the RNA degradosome with different proteins have been reported. Additional alternate degradosome components include PcnB (poly A polymerase) (Raynal, 1999; Carabetta, 2010). Additional alternate degradosome components during cold shock include RNA helicase CsdA (Prud'homme-Genereux, 2004). Additional alternate degradosome components include the RNA helicases RhlE and SrmB (Khemici, 2004). Additional alternate degradosome components during stationary phase include Rnr (RNase R) and the putative RNA helicase HrpA (Carabetta, 2010). Ppk (polyphosphate kinase) has also been reported to be a constiuent of the degradosome (Blum, 1997).
