The peptidases and peptidase homologs of E. coli K-12 are classified using the MEROPS database classification scheme (Rawlings, 2006).
Details:
The peptidase families are classified according to the type of active site:
Aspartic (A), Cysteine (C), Glutamic (G), Metallo (M), Serine (S), Threonine (T), and Unknown (U).
Protease family genes can be downloaded as a full set, by active site type subtopics, or by MEROPS family subtopics. The Resource Menus on the GenePages have links to the MEROPS database entries at the MEROPS id level.
