YfdP is encoded in a predicted gene of unknown function in the e14 prophage. It defines a family of small phage proteins of unknown function and origin, all about 120 aa long.
Details:
11 protein sequences of bacteriophage or prophage origin were culled from a blast run to illustrate conservation and provide validation for the annotation of YfdP with the shorter N-terminus in EcoGene. There is no homology upstream of the newly annotated start site, which has an excellent predicted ribosome binding site of GAGGAG at -10.
