Protein Folding

Description:

Protein unfolding, also known as protein dentauration, can be induced both in vivo and in vitro by heat, acid, mutation and a variety of other means including the action of specific chaperones termed unfoldases. In vivo, unfolding can be on a pathway of refolding a misfolded protein. Most studies of the unfolding process have been done in vitro. A method for measuring protein folding stability in E. coli cells has been developed (Ignatova, 2009).
