BamB has an eight-bladed beta-propeller structure comprised of eight WD40/PQQ fold repeats (Gatsos, 2008; Kim, 2011; Heuck, 2011; Noinaj, 2011; Albrecht, 2011). BamB binds PQQ and is involved in the PQQ-mediated radiation stress response, bamB mutants are UV-sensitive, and BamB has PQQ-stimulated autophosphorylating Ser/Thr protein kinase activity (Khairnar, 2007).
